Welcome back, Deorbiteers, to our second quarterly release of Deorbital.

As we mentioned in our Autumn Quarterly welcome letter, Deorbital is a work of love for us as editors. We are immensely grateful to all our backers, readers, writers, pitchers, and anyone who has ever helped out small independent games criticism.

Special shoutout, of course, to Lexie Mason-Davis, who contributed the wonderful artwork you can see above.

Before you enter into the world of our first release of writing for 2019, just a reminder to check out our previous works from last year, our Dogs of War series, our Autumn Quarterly, and (new thing!) our Games of The Year collection, including GOTY lists from six different writers, including us truly.

As we enter 2019, we want to look forward. We’re still in the process of learning what Deorbital can be, and for whom it can be for, and that’s why you’ll notice we’re one article short this time around. The fact of the matter is that with the funds that we currently have, we decided the best way to use our funds and still provide the level of writer compensation that forms the backbone of our work required running one fewer article in our Winter and (upcoming) Spring quarterlies.

With that said, we are immensely proud of what we have been able to do and what we look forward to doing in the first half of 2019. And, as always, we humbly ask, if you enjoy the work that we do here at Deorbital, to consider donating to or supporting our ongoing crowdfunding campaign.

Deorbital is not a profitable institution, we are not expecting to be anything more than what we always set out to be: A place for good writing, by good people, about games as a medium and a culture. We are made by our communities, and it is our joy and duty to uplift those communities toward a positive future.

Let’s look forward together,

Dante Douglas & Amr Al-Aaser
